Do you feel like going somewhere during the holiday?

Wanaka is a town in South Island and it’s situated at the southern end of Lake Wanaka. To visit Wanaka, you may use airplanes between Auckland and Wanaka. However, that way is a bit expensive and the bus system is inconvenient in South Island, so I recommend that you get to Christchurch by flights and then you pick up rent cars. If nobody can drive a car, you can use transfer services which link Lake Wanaka with Queenstown, Christchurch, Dunedin and so on.

The reason why I tell you to travel Wanaka is that you’ll be able to do lots of activities especially if you like extreme sports. Why don’t you try sky diving(from $299) and paragliding(about $180)? I’ve done sky diving near Lake Wanaka and it’s extremely exciting. Besides those, you can enjoy horse treks, walking and hiking, skiing and snowboarding, rafting, jet boating and so on. I’ve done sky diving in Wanaka and I strongly recommend you should do it there. You can watch amazing view during free fall. Does it sound great?

Are you going to travel with your family, friends or by yourself? You should go to puzzling world which is just 2km from Lake Wanaka and an entry fee is free. I’m sure you love it and spend amusing time because there are illusion rooms and a great maze at puzzling world.

In Wanaka, you can stay at hotels, holiday parks, backpackers, motels, etc. Are you looking for economical accommodations? If you stay at backpackers or lodges, you’ll stay at a reasonable price and may be able to meet many tourists and talk with them. It’ll be interesting experience. In my case, I stayed at YHA Wanaka which gives convenient facilities for tourists. The price is from $18.00.

Shall I tell you about my itinerary? It was from Christchurch to Queenstown for 7days and I spent one and half a day in Wanaka. I wanted to more stay there, but I’d already booked another accommodation in Queenstown. I’d like to suggest that you don’t have to book in advance because there are heaps of accommodation in Wanaka. Apart form Christmas holidays, you can turn up anytime and get accommodation easily without booking. This website provides all information about Wanaka such as accommodation, transport, activities and useful tips. Here is a link.
